Eisenstein, Judah David
(1854-1956)
   American Hebrew writer and editor of Polish origin. He emigrated to the US in 1872, where he became a coal manufacturer. He was a founder in 1880 of Shoharei Sefat Ever, the first Hebrew society in the US. He published in Hebrew a Jewish encyclopaedia in ten volumes (Otzar Yisrael) as well as several anthologies of Jewish literature.
